Why Move here?
We asked families who live, work and love their lives right here in Pilot Mound what they like best about living in Pilot Mound as a family. These are some of the responses:
"Our family enjoys using the snowmobile trails which are provided throughout our area and extend to various communities. These trails are maintained regularly and provide the area residents as well as other people the opportunity to see some of the more scenic sights of our area."

"Rooted is probably the best word to use. We all feel safe and comfortable. We have no need to stress out about where our kids are after school or what is going on down the street. Everyone looks out for everyone else, and that is a good thing when you're a parent. I can't even imagine living in a city - how stressful it would be not knowing your neighbours!"

"Pilot Mound has much to offer for a small town. All you need to do is drive around it to find out. It has many facilities that other small towns do not have. Not many small communities have a: day care, swimming pool, tennis court, ball diamonds, golf course, theatre, library and a new complex."

"Each of our girls are heavily involved in music. With some terrific top-notch music teachers right at our finger tips, all three get excellent music instruction once a week."
Dad of 3
"Best of all for a young family - is the caring of all our children. When someone is in need of help you can always count on someone in the community. As the saying goes "It takes a village to raise a child" and that could not be more appropriate for the town of Pilot Mound."

"During the winter months we ski at La Riviere which is 10 minutes away and skate at the rink, we even push the snow off the dug out now and again and skate right here at home."

"One of the benefits of living out here in Pilot Mound is being able to enjoy the wide open spaces and the beauty of nature. I'm able to walk the dog down the back roads and let him off the leash to run free. It's a nice time for me to enjoy the peace and quiet and really take in the beauty of Mother Nature."

"A tremendous benefit of living out in a smaller town such as Pilot Mound is the affordability of the housing. We're able to have a nice sized home with a huge yard at an affordable price. With a lot the size of ours, out in the open, we can enjoy quality family time with a wiener roast right in the comforts of our backyard."

"In summer we love to camp at Rock Lake and go boating and skiing, swimming and fishing. We love to have friends over and get together with other families every July 1st. So between what already happens around town and just our regular lives, time is just flying us by. Too quickly!'

"Pilot Mound is located within the close proximity of a beautiful lake....Rock Lake. Being so close by, we're able to take a drive down any evening to enjoy fishing, boating or just sitting by the lake. Having the campgrounds there is an added bonus as well."

"It is comforting to allow the children the freedom they have out in a smaller community. It is a real benefit to live in Pilot Mound where everyone knows one another and looks out for each other."

"I was born and raised in Pilot Mound and left here for 10 years to work elsewhere. I lived in Winnipeg for the last part of those 10 years, and everytime I left the perimeter, and could see the wheat fields, straw bales, and wide open spaces, I would crank up my country music, and couldn't wait to get "home".
I returned to Pilot Mound as a single mom with two small children and a third on the way. The support this community gave me during my hard times is indescribable, and I will always be grateful for the help.
Here I could let my young children play outside in the fresh, clean air & sunshine without fences, and without worry. If they left my line of vision I knew they were safe, and that I could find them in a few minutes. When they were older, if they didn't come home right away after school, I didn't worry. I knew that if I needed to find them, it was just a quick phone call to one of their friends homes to find out where they were.
As a family, we have everything we need right here in Pilot Mound, and if it's not here, it's available within a short driving distance. There was, and still is, as much cultural, athletic, recreational and educational opportunity for my (now full grown) kids in this area as there is in any city, without the hassles and fears.
In this community, my kids could "test their wings" in a safe environment as they grew up. There's things kids can do in a small town they can't in a city. They don't grow up under an umbrella of fear - of being kidnapped, mugged for their jacket or lunch money etc.
Just recently, my oldest son, who now lives in Red Deer, Alberta, thanked me for bringing them to Pilot Mound, that it's a GREAT place to grow up in."
