Outdoor Skating

Outdoor skating is a great way to enjoy winter—fresh air, exercise, and beautiful scenery all in one. In Crystal City, the skating river trail at Crystal Creek Reservoir is perfect for a fun day out. Bring your skates and enjoy the trail or outdoor rinks with friends and family!

Cross Country Skiing Trails

Cross country skiing trails are located in Clearwater, Crystal City and Pilot Mound. Clearwater's trail is located in the sports park by the curling club, Crystal City's trail is beside Cudmore Hall, and Pilot Mound's trail is at the golf course. See maps below. Crystal City Community Printing Museum

This designated Heritage Site Building is likely the oldest in town. Step inside and you’re transported back to 1881, when the first "Rock Lake Herald" was issued by Thomas Greenway & Co. The museum remains operational, and tours are available on request.

Star Mound

Star Mound is a 100-foot-tall glacial moraine offering panoramic prairie views. It was once an important Indigenous village and still features a beaver-shaped burial site. In 1967, the historical school building was relocated here, now maintained as a summer museum and picnic site.

Star Mound

Lesson From the Land Trail

The interpretive trail near Clearwater’s curling rink is a 2.3 km scenic loop through the Cypress Creek valley. Expect prairie views, forest, and rest benches along the way. It takes about an hour at a casual pace.
