The Rock Lake Handy Van operates with funds from the Manitoba Government, the Municipality of Louise and client user fees and is run by a Council Board. Due to escalating costs and the lack of availability of approved drivers the fees are as follows:

1. User Fees - Minimum charge is $24.00
If the trip is within the Municipality of Louise boundaries the cost is $24.

If the trip is outside the boundaries of the Municipality of Louise the rate is $1.10 per km and the mileage is clocked from pick up of the client to drop off of the client. The cost of $1.10 is for unlimited time but if a ‘wait time’ is more than 1 hour then the cost for the additional wait time is $24 per hour (pro rated to the nearest 15 minutes).

If a one way trip is needed for a trip outside the boundaries of the Municipality of Louise the rate is clocked from pick up of the client to drop off of the client at the cost of $1.10 per km. An additional rate of $24 per hour is charged for the Handivan driver to return to base in Crystal City


2. Service hours - 8 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday - times and dates outside normal service must be pre-arranged with the driver or arrangements made to supply an approved driver.

3. The driver may request that an attendant accompany a user - if client needs assistance to be mobile, attendant may be required.

** The Rock Lake Handy Van has been awarded a one-time grant of $10,000 from the Province of Manitoba to provide transportation services for clients to and from COVID-19 vaccination appointments outside their home community. This means trips can be offered free of charge for local residents. Cut off of this service will be once the total of expense $10,000 is reached.  To book transportation to and from your COVID-19 vaccination appointment outside the home community please contact Jane Baker, see contact information above.

 

Rock Lake Handy Van cancellation/re-booking policy

The Rock Lake Handy Van is available for bookings for (medical) appointments. Whilst it is appreciated a cancellation can occur at short notice and for different reasons, due to the fact the service offered is on a first come, first serve basis, the Handy Van Committee deem it necessary to introduce a cancellation policy.

Should the Handy Van be booked please be advised that if the notification of cancellation is not given or notice to cancel is given and acknowledged by the Handy Van driver which is LESS than 1 hour of a scheduled pick-up time, then a cancellation fee of $20.00 will be charged. To avoid this fee please give the Handy Van driver as much notice as possible to cancel or reschedule.
